For half a century, our NICEIC certification has provided independent recognition of the standards that underpin our electrical engineering work. It represents a long-standing commitment to technical competence, electrical safety and quality, principles that have remained central to R.D. Jukes as the business has developed over the decades.

Five Decades of Electrical Expertise

R.D. Jukes was established in 1968 and became a limited company in 1974. Since then, we have grown from our roots in Walsall to become an experienced electrical engineering and contracting business, delivering specialist projects for organisations across healthcare, education, local government, commercial and wider public sector environments.

Our capabilities have expanded considerably during that time. Today, our teams deliver everything from mains infrastructure and power distribution through to lighting and emergency lighting, electrical testing and compliance, standby power, nurse call systems, fire and security systems, and voice and data infrastructure.

While the technology, regulations and expectations surrounding electrical installations have changed significantly over the past 50 years, our approach has remained consistent: delivering work safely, professionally and to the standards our clients expect.

What Does NICEIC Certification Mean?

NICEIC is one of the UK's leading certification bodies for the electrical industry. Its Approved Contractor Scheme assesses electrical contractors against the requirements of BS 7671, providing clients with confidence that the businesses they appoint have demonstrated the necessary technical competence to undertake electrical installation work.

Maintaining NICEIC certification is an ongoing commitment. Certified businesses are subject to regular assessment, helping to ensure standards of technical competence and safety continue to be maintained.

For our clients, particularly those responsible for hospitals, universities, public buildings and complex operational estates, that independent assurance forms an important part of choosing an electrical contractor they can trust.

50 Years of Change

The electrical industry of today looks very different from the one in which R.D. Jukes first became NICEIC certified.

Over the decades, electrical infrastructure has become increasingly sophisticated, regulations have evolved and the reliance organisations place on resilient power and connected systems has grown enormously. From modern power distribution and emergency lighting to critical standby power, data networks and specialist healthcare systems, electrical infrastructure now plays an integral role in keeping buildings and organisations operating safely.

R.D. Jukes has continued to develop alongside those changes, investing in our people, technical knowledge and capabilities while maintaining the standards that have supported the business throughout its history.

That experience is particularly important when working within live and operational environments. Many of the organisations we support cannot simply stop operating while essential electrical works are completed. Careful planning, coordination and technical expertise are therefore fundamental to delivering projects while minimising disruption and maintaining continuity.

Built on Long-Term Relationships

Our 50-year NICEIC milestone also reflects something that has always been important to R.D. Jukes: longevity.

We have worked with organisations across the public and private sectors for decades, with a number of client relationships extending beyond 20 years. Those relationships have been built through consistent delivery, technical expertise and an understanding of the environments in which our clients operate.

Becoming part of Ventro Group in 2026 has created the next chapter for R.D. Jukes, providing further opportunities to develop our capabilities while retaining the experience, people and values that have shaped the business since 1968.

Looking to the Future

Celebrating 50 years of NICEIC certification gives us an opportunity to recognise our history, but our focus remains firmly on what comes next.
