The project comprised of the conversion and upgrade of 160No. existing fluorescent luminaires to four internal tennis courts.

R. D. Jukes & Co. Ltd were engaged by The University of Warwick to upgrade the existing fluorescent lighting to LED, by means of installing new retrofit LED gear trays and Thorlux Smartscan controls, into the original ABR sports luminaire bodies whilst they remained in-situ.

We worked with the University to sequence the works which allowed our operatives to upgrade one tennis court at a time, whilst maintaining the safe and seamless operation of adjoining courts for full and uninterrupted use.

Retrofitting luminaires with new technology has less impact on the environment, with a reduction to manufacturing processes including the sourcing of raw materials, conserving resource and preventing scrappage of old and seemingly end of life fixtures. These upgrades will not only improve illuminance and controllability to the courts, but will provide the Client with considerable savings in energy consumption helping to reduce their carbon footprint.
