Project Overview

R.D. Jukes was appointed to deliver the electrical and associated services for a major fit-out of two large industrial units in Kidderminster for Specsavers’ Lens Online and International Glazing Services (IGS) operations.

The development created dedicated storage, distribution and manufacturing facilities, requiring a comprehensive electrical installation capable of supporting both the building infrastructure and the specialist power requirements of production equipment and machinery.

R.D. Jukes was responsible for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the electrical and associated services across both units.

The Challenge

The scale and varied use of the two industrial units required an electrical distribution system capable of supporting manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations within a single project.

Particular consideration was required around the production areas, where power and data needed to be distributed effectively to individual workstations and machinery. The installation also needed to accommodate electrical, data and mechanical services while maintaining an organised and accessible infrastructure suitable for an industrial environment.

Our Solution

R.D. Jukes delivered the electrical infrastructure throughout both facilities, including new sub-main distribution, high-level Low Voltage busbar distribution, earthing and bonding, transient voltage surge suppression and the associated wiring and containment systems.

Within the production areas, general small power was provided to workstations and machinery, supported by bespoke systems designed to facilitate electrical, data and mechanical service connections. This provided the infrastructure required to support the specialist manufacturing activities taking place within the facilities.

The lighting package incorporated LED low-bay lighting and emergency lighting throughout the development. R.D. Jukes also completed the necessary fire detection and alarm modifications, alongside containment for sub-main power, small power, data and fire alarm systems.

On completion, the installed services underwent comprehensive testing, inspection and commissioning, with certification provided as part of the final project handover.

The Results

The completed electrical installation provided Specsavers with the infrastructure required to support its Lens Online and International Glazing Services storage, distribution and manufacturing operations in Kidderminster.

By combining high-level power distribution with bespoke workstation and machinery connections, R.D. Jukes delivered an installation suited to the practical demands of a large industrial and production environment.

The project demonstrates R.D. Jukes’ experience in delivering coordinated electrical installations for industrial and manufacturing facilities, from power distribution and lighting through to life safety systems, testing and final certification.
