Trinity Point, Halesowen College

R.D. Jukes & Co. Ltd. delivered the electrical and associated services package for the extensive refurbishment of the East Wing at Trinity Point, Halesowen College.

The large-scale change-of-use project transformed five floors of former office accommodation into modern teaching facilities, incorporating a new reception area, classrooms, studio, student café, offices and associated ancillary spaces.

R.D. Jukes was responsible for coordinating, supplying, installing, testing and commissioning the electrical and associated systems throughout the newly refurbished areas.

Transforming five floors of existing office space into a modern education environment required substantial changes to the building's electrical infrastructure.

Alongside upgrading the main electrical distribution, the project required an extensive range of power, lighting, fire safety, security and communication systems to be integrated across the five-storey building. With numerous contractors and specialist systems forming part of the wider refurbishment, careful coordination was essential to manage interfaces between trades and maintain progress against the project programme.

Our Solution

R.D. Jukes delivered significant upgrades to the building's electrical infrastructure, beginning with modifications to the existing on-site transformer and replacement of the existing LV cabinet and associated outgoing circuit protection. A new 800A LV switchboard was installed alongside a downstream LV distribution network served by new rising busbar systems.

Across the five floors, our team installed primary and secondary containment, including a bespoke black powder-coated tray network, together with small power, desk power and data modules. New general and emergency lighting systems were installed alongside automatic dimmable controls and colour-changing LED lighting.

The package also incorporated the building's fire, security and communication infrastructure. This included fire detection and alarm systems, fire and smoke damper control network wiring, smoke ventilation and AOV control wiring, and structured voice and data cabling. Access control, intercom, CCTV and intruder alarm systems were integrated throughout the development, alongside new electric vehicle charging points.

Throughout delivery, R.D. Jukes worked collaboratively with the Principal Contractor, client's representatives, other contractors and our specialist supply chain to coordinate the extensive range of systems and ensure their successful integration within the wider refurbishment.

The project successfully transformed the five-storey East Wing from office accommodation into a modern teaching environment supported by upgraded electrical infrastructure and integrated fire, security and communication systems.

R.D. Jukes' coordinated approach enabled a complex package of electrical and associated services to be successfully delivered across the building, supporting Halesowen College's new teaching, working and student facilities.
